Prisoner Executed at Sanandaj Central Prison

Rauf Hassani had endured 13 consecutive years in prison. He was arrested by Iranian authorities at the age of 22 and hanged to death at 35.

Iran Human Rights, Friday September 18 2015: Rauf Hassani, a prisoner charged with murder, was reportedly hanged to death by Iranian authorities on the morning of Wednesday September 16 at Sanandaj Central Prison.

During his interrogations and trial Hassani said: I had no intention or reason to murder. We were just hanging out drinking tea in the mountains when we suddenly heard a gunshot. My gun had accidently gone off without me even pulling the trigger, and the bullet hit my friend. An eyewitness had testified at Hassani's trial in the lower court and echoed Hassani. Subsequently, the presiding judge issued Hassani a prison sentence for the charge of manslaughter. However, in a turn of events, the eyewitness changed their testimony, and the court, based on the new testimony, sentenced Hassani to death.
