Iran Human Rights, December 29: One mas was hanged in public in the town of Nikshahr (in Sistan-Baluchestan province, south-eastern Iran) reported the state run Iranian news agency ISNA yesterday.

The man was identified as Abdolrahman Baluch Zehi, known as "Lalak" and was covicted of murdering a woman and her daughter, according to the report.

According to the report, he was hanged in public, on the spot where he had allegedly committed the murder.

The story was also reported in the daily newspaper Kayhan today.

Public hangings were halted in January 2008 after an order from the head of Iranian judiciary Mr. Shahroudi and due to international attention on public executions in Iran.

However there have been several reports on public hangings in Iran in 2008. The executions in the below picture are from Borazjan 2008.
