Iran Human Rights (IHR); March 14, 2019: Iranian authorities announced the execution of three people in the country’s South Khorasan province during the last days. No name, date or even city was revealed in the announcement.

According to ISNA News Agency, the Chief of police in the Iranian South Khorasan province, said, “The three men were arrested during an armed clash with police in South Khorasan.”

Yesterday, IHR confirmed the execution of two men at the prison of Birjand city, South Khorasan province. However, the two were sentenced to death for drug-related charges. Therefore, it seems five people were hanged during the last days in Southern Khorasan province.

Lack of transparency in the Iranian judicial system makes the report and confirmation of the exact number of executions even more difficult.
