Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); 2 September 2026: Sina Alipour, a Baluch man on death row for murder, was executed in Zahedan Central Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, a man was hanged in Zahedan Central Prison on 1 September 2026. His identity has been established as Sina Alipour, a 26-year-old Baluch man from Lashar who resided in Chabahar. He was arrested around three years ago and sentenced to death on the charge of rape.

An informed source told IHRNGO: “Arrested around three years ago on charges of robbery and rape, Sina was ultimately sentenced to death. Until his final moments, he denied all allegations and maintained his innocence, but the presiding judge completely disregarded his defence.”

At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.

In cases of rape, there is a high chance of defendants being tortured to make false confessions, which is used to issue death sentences. Iran is one of the few countries in the world that issues the death penalty for rape. A lot of cases are also rushed without the defendants having access to a lawyer. According to the 2025 Annual Report on the Death Penalty in Iran, at least 37 people were executed for rape charges.
