Political Prisoner Ali Sina Mostafavi Executed in Kerman

Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); 14 October 2026: State media reported the execution of Ali Sina Mostafavi, a political prisoner affiliated with Reza Pahlavi, in Kerman Central Prison. He is the fifteenth political prisoner executed for affiliation with banned opposition groups in 2026.

According to the judiciary’s Mizan News Agency, Ali Sina Mostafavi was hanged at an unspecified location in Kerman on 14 October 2026. Quoting Ebrahim Hamidi, the head of Kerman’s judiciary, Tasnim News Agency reported that he was a member of the “Immortal Guards,” (armed wing of Reza Pahlavi’s group) and that the execution was carried out in Kerman Central Prison. He was sentenced to death on the charge of moharebeh (enmity against God) “with the intent to spread terror and panic, attempted murder, the intentional infliction of bodily harm by gunfire, brandishing a firearm, the manufacture and possession of explosive materials, drawing a weapon with intent to threaten life and cause fear and communicating with hostile media affiliated with the Zionist regime.”

Ebrahim Hamidi stated that Ali Sina and his co-defendants were arrested on 25 April 2026. Mizan News Agency shared a short clip of Ali Sina’s arrest where he is sitting in a car blindfolded.

An informed source told IHRNGO: “Ali Sina Mostafavi, 39, was from Bam County. He was a professional mountaineer and a member of the Spiko Mountaineering Club in Kerman. His death sentence was issued by Branch 1 of the Kerman Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hadi Aghaei. Branch 41 of the Supreme Court, presided over by Judge Zabihi, then swiftly upheld the sentence on 28 September 2026."

Hamidi also stated: "The second defendant in this case, Mojtaba Pourmonemi, has been sentenced to 12 years and 7 months' imprisonment for aiding and abetting moharebeh and 7 months and 16 days' imprisonment for propaganda against the system. The third and fourth defendants, Mahboubeh Rahimi and Sima Mostafavi, were each sentenced to 7 months and 16 days' imprisonment for propaganda against the system. Regarding their further charges of complicity in the possession and manufacture of explosive materials (Molotov cocktails), an order declaring lack of jurisdiction was issued in favour of Criminal Court Two, where the matter will subsequently be heard and decided upon."

At least 15 political prisoners have been executed for affiliation with banned opposition groups since March. Of those, nine were in connection with the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK), three with Baluch groups Jaysh al-Adl and al-Furqan, two with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and one with Reza Pahlavi.
