Iranian supreme court has approved "stoning" sentence of a woman

Iran Human Rights, November 27: According to a report byrooz online, Iranian Supreme court has approved the verdict issued by a court tha Fras province which has sentenced a woman to death by stoning!

The woman is identified as Afsaneh, and is sentenced to death for murdering her husband as well as detah by stoning for adultry. A man identified as Reza is sentenced to 15 years in prison for assistance in the murder and 100 lashes for extramarital relationship with Afsaneh.

The sentence was apprved by the Iranian supreme court on the same day as the spokesman for Iran’s judiciary announced that execution by stoning will be suspended.

At that time human rights defenders declared that as long as stoning sentence exists in teh Iranian law, stoning as punishment will continue.
