A Prisoner Scheduled to Be Executed in Eastern Iran

Iran Human Rights (Apr 17, 2018): Abdolmalek Baluchi, who was sentenced to death on murder charges, was transferred to the solitary confinement of Zahedan Central Prison on Friday and is scheduled to be executed on Saturday.

According to a close source, on the morning of Friday, April 13, a prisoner who was sentenced to death on murder charges was transferred to the solitary confinement.
The prisoner, identified as Abdolmalek Baluchi, 26, was scheduled to be executed this week but he was able to ask for time from the plaintiffs. If he is unable to gain the consent of the plaintiffs, he will be executed on Saturday, April 21.
Abdolmalek has been in prison for five years and was kept in ward 8 of Zahedan Central Prison before being transferred to the solitary confinement.
According to Iran Human Rights annual report on the death penalty, 240 of the 517 execution sentences in 2017 were implemented due to murder charges.
There is a lack of a classification of murder by degree in Iran which results in issuing a death sentence for any kind of murder regardless of intensity and intent.
