Iran: Three Prisoners Scheduled To Be Executed

Iran Human Rights (Sep 1, 2018): Three prisoners who were sentenced to death on the charge of “Moharebeh and armed conflict” were transferred to the solitary confinement of Zahedan Central Prison. There is concern that they will be executed in revenge.

According to a close source, on the morning of Saturday, September 1, three prisoners sentenced to death on the charge of “Moharebeh and armed conflict” were transferred to the solitary confinement of Zahedan Central Prison.

The families of these prisoners visited them for the last time at 10 p.m. on Saturday.

A close source said, “The prisoners were severely tortured during their detention and the process of their trial was unfair. The trial was conducted in closed session and their families don’t know anything about the proceeding of the case.” He added, “There was an armed conflict between Jaish Al-Adl and the Revolutionary Guards in Saravan on Friday. These prisoners are going to be executed in revenge.”

The prisoners are identified as Esmaeel Shahbakhsh, Dormohammad Shahbakhsh, and Hayatollah Shahbakhsh.

According to a report by HRANA, the prisoners are charged with participating in an armed conflict with the police on July 7, 2015, during which a police Colonel was murdered. They are facing murder allegations as well as security charges, although they deny being involved in the murder of the police Colonel.

It should be noted that, on October 26, 2013, judicial authorities executed 16 Baluch prisoners who were sentenced to death on the charge of “Moharebeh” and “having associations with armed groups” as a reaction to the murder of 18 Iranian border guards.
