Iran Human Rights (IHR); April 24, 2019: A man who was sentenced to death for murder charges, hanged at Kermanshah Central Prison last Thursday.

According to IHR sources, a man was hanged at Kermanshah Central Prison (known as Dizel Abad) on Thursday, April 18. He was sentenced to death for murder charges.

Kurdpa website identified the man’s name as Jafar Hosseini. He was reportedly from the Iranian city of Harsin. Jafar had spent five years in jail before the execution.

According to the Iran Human Rights statistic department, the majority of executions in 2017 and 2018 in Iran was for murder charges. At least 188 prisoners were executed for murder charges in 2018. Only 33% of executions were announced by Iranian authorities in 2018.
