Iran Executions: Man Hanged at Sanandaj Prison

Iran Human Rights (IHR); December 19, 2019: A man was hanged at Sanandaj prison for murder charges Wednesday.
According to Iran Human Rights (IHR), on the morning of Wednesday, December 18, prisoner Farzad Seif-Panahi, 37, was executed at Sanandaj prison, Kurdistan province.
“Farzad was sentenced to death for murdering a man around five years ago,” a well-informed source told IHR.
Out of the 110 people who were executed in the first half of 2019, 83 were sentenced to qisas (retribution in-kind) for murder.

Abbas Mardani, 30, and Mansour Rahiminejad, 38 and a father of one, were executed in Qom Central Prison on 31 August. Both were sentenced to death on drug-related charges.

Six women were among those executed, the highest monthly total recorded in 2026. Only 10 of the 82 August executions were officially announced. IHRNGO recorded at least 532 executions in Iran between 1 January and 31 August 2026.
