Iran Executions: Three Men Hanged in Kermanshah

Iran Human Rights (IHR); February 19, 2020: Three prisoners were hanged on February 5 at the Iranian city of Kermanshah. Iranian authorities and media remain silent about the executions.

According to IHR sources, on the morning of Wednesday, February 5, 2020, three prisoners were hanged at Kermanshah prison -also known as Dizel-Abad prison. IHR could identify two as Shahab Naderi (22) and Borzu Ahmadi (38), both executed for murder charges. The details of the third executed prisoner is under investigation by IHR researchers.

Hengaw website which was the first to reveal Borzu Mohammadi’s execution, mentioned that he was sentenced to death for murder four years ago.

In 2019, most of the executions in Iran were carried out for murder charges.

According to the Iranian Islamic Penal Code (IPC) murder is punishable by qisas which means “retribution in kind” or retaliation.
