One man is scheduled to be hanged in public in Isfahan (central Iran) on January 27

Iran Human Rights, January 24: The man who is convicted of murdering Isfahan’s wise chief prosecuter is scheduled to be hanged in public in the city of Isfahan on Wednesday January 27.

According to the Iranian daily newspaper Etemaad, the man who is identified as Jamshid (53) is convicted of having murdered Isfahan’s wise chief prosecuter in March 2009. He will be hanged in front of "Shahid Tolaei judiciary complex" early Wednesday morning according to the report.

Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the spokesperson of Iran Human Rights condemned this decision and said:" This public hanging must be seen in connection with the Iranian regime’s attempts to spread fear among the people before the planned protest demonstrations in February".

He continued: "On December 22., people of Sirjan turned public hanging of two men into a public uprising against the regime. It is expected that the Iranian people will show their protest against the executions wherever they take place".
