Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO); 25 July 2026: Issa Chari, a political prisoner on death row for destroying an IRGC billboard, is at imminent risk of execution after being transferred to the pre-execution solitary confinement cells of Ghezelhesar Prison.

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, political prisoner Issa Chari is at imminent risk of execution after being transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution in Ghezelhesar Prison. He was reportedly sentenced to death by Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of membership in the People's Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and action against national security.

According to an informed IHRNGO source, “Issa was arrested for destroying an IRGC billboard.”

Issa was arrested in Qarchak on 7 December 2025. He is reported to be a 37-year-old Baluch father of two who worked in a poultry farm in Qarchak.

In 2026, Islamic Republic authorities have announced the execution of ten political prisoners for affiliation with the PMOI/MEK, a banned opposition organisation. Mehdi Khanaki, the last recorded case, was executed on 22 July.
