Protester Kaveh Arabian at Imminent Risk of Execution After Transfer to Unknown Location

According to information obtained by Iran Human Rights, Kaveh Arabian was transferred to an unknown location from the general ward of Yazd Central Prison on 28 July 2026. His transfer took place a day after a family visit with his parents, wife and baby. 

An informed source told IHRNGO: “Today at 5.00 pm, he was taken from prison and transferred to another location for execution. His parents have been repeatedly threatened that they must remain silent and are forbidden from speaking out or seeking support regarding their son.”

Kaveh was arrested at his cousin’s home in Yazd on 12 January, when his baby was just two months old. In Kaveh’s own words: “That night, I was returning from my father-in-law’s house. My wife had been there since noon and our baby’s belongings were there, so I went to pick them up, at which point I was arrested by several IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) agents. An IRGC agent was killed that very night at that exact hour, and I became the scapegoat. It was as simple as that.”

An informed source told IHRNGO: “Kaveh was the sole breadwinner for his family. Aside from him, his parents have no one to rely on, as he provided financially for both his own family and his parents.”

Held in the custody of the Intelligence Organisation of the IRGC for 68 days, Kaveh was subjected to severe torture to extract false self-incriminating confessions. IHRNGO previously reported that Kaveh was informed of his death sentence on 25 May. 

“Kaveh was denied a lawyer of his choice and was not even provided with a court-appointed lawyer. He was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Yazd Revolutionary Court on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God) through disrupting national security, setting fire to public property and killing an IRGC member. His death sentence was subsequently upheld by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court,” the informed source added.

Ali Daneshparvar and Esmail Ramezanpour, two other protesters sentenced to death in relation to the January protests, are currently awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision in their case.

At least 26 protesters have been executed in connection to the December 2025–January 2026 protests since 19 March, listed here in order of execution: Saleh Mohammadi, Saeed Davodi, Mehdi Ghasemi, Amirhossein Hatami, Mohammad Amin Biglari, Shahin Vahedparast Kolor, Ali Fahim, Amir Ali Mir Jafari, Erfan Kiani, Sasan Azadvar, Ebrahim Dolatabadnejad, Mehdi Rasouli, Mohammadreza Miri, Mohammad Abbasi, Abbas Akbari Feizabadi, Ashkan Maleki, Mehrdad Mohammadinia, Fathollah Avari, Javad Zamani, Abolfazl Saedi, Mohammad Amini Dehaghani, Erfan Esfandiari, Gol Mohammad Mohammadi, Mehdi Khanaki, Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi.

Mehrab Abdollahzadeh and Aref Khoshkar, two “Woman, Life, Freedom” protesters, were also executed during this period.
